On Saturday 2nd September (that's right, this Saturday), Cardiff is hosting Wales' first ever Hindu Mela in the Swalec International Cricket Stadium in Sophia Gardens. It promises to be an unforgettable event and we at Flowers4Cardiff are almost bursting with excitement!
Flowers play a huge role in Hinduism and Hindus use many brightly coloured flowers, both in worship and in portrayals of the divine - we are really excited to see the glorious floral displays, which no doubt will be a delight for the eyes.
"The event will give the attendee an insight into various aspects of the Hindu faith, ranging from Pooja, Yagna, Aarti, Bhajan, Inspirational Hindus, Hindu discoveries, Festivals, Hindu family, Scriptures, Yoga sessions, Meditation, Q&A with Saints & many more…." (Cardiff Carpe Diem)
The cow is considered a sacred animal in Hinduism and there will even be a cow and calf at the mela for those who want a selfie with a difference! The photograph below was taken for a 'selfie with a cow' contest that was run in India in 2015, raising awareness of the issues with regard to cattle protection.
